Who we are

MyLocalArchitects is a trading name of Property Architecture Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17536132, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ. Property Architecture Ltd runs MyLocalArchitects.co.uk and is the controller of the personal data described on this page. You can reach us at [email protected].

When you send an enquiry to a practice

We collect your name, email address and message, and your phone number and the service you are asking about if you give them. We store the enquiry in our database and send it by email to the one practice you chose. It is not sent to any other practice, and we do not sell it. The practice can also see it in its dashboard.

If you are signed in, we email a receipt to your account address. We also send a copy of every enquiry to us, the operator, at [email protected], so we can check the service is working and handle complaints.

To limit abuse we store a hashed form of your IP address with the enquiry, and use it, with your email address, to cap how many enquiries can be sent in an hour. We do not store the IP address itself.

When you create an account or sign in

We use your email address to send you a sign-in link and to keep you signed in, using a session stored in our database. If you claim a listing we also store the details you give us for the claim, including your name, the practice and its register number.

A practice on a paid listing may add a WhatsApp number to its profile. We store the number, whether the practice wants the button shown and when it confirmed the number is its business number and may be shown publicly. We show it only while the practice wants it shown and the listing is a paid listing that a moderator has not hidden; the practice can remove it at any time, and then we delete the number. Until the practice removes it we keep it, also while the button is not shown (for example after the listing stops being a paid listing).

Messaging a practice on WhatsApp

If a practice adds a WhatsApp number, we show it on their profile because the practice asked us to. Tapping Message on WhatsApp takes you to WhatsApp, a service owned by Meta: what you send there goes from you to the practice through WhatsApp, under WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy, and we do not see it. We count taps on that button; our count does not record who tapped.

Reviews

When you write a review we store your email address to send you a link to confirm the review is yours and to tell you the outcome. We never show it publicly or to the practice. To check that you were a client, we show the practice only the kind of work, the month it was done and the date you wrote the review, never your name, email, rating or text. The text is published only once the review is verified. We delete your email address 90 days after your review is published, rejected or removed, and we delete a review you never confirmed 30 days after the last confirmation link we sent you. See the review policy.

Who processes data for us

Email is sent through Resend, which handles the message content and recipient addresses on our behalf. Our database and servers are self-hosted. Payments for listings go through Stripe, which receives the details needed to take payment.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries that do not lead to work for up to 24 months, then delete them. We review enquiries and delete them by hand; deletion is not automated. Listing and review data are kept while the listing is live, plus any further period we need to meet legal or accounting obligations. A reviewer's email address is deleted automatically 90 days after the review is decided, as described under Reviews.

Cookies

When we switch on Google Analytics, a banner asks first. Only if you press Accept does Google Analytics set _ga and _ga_<id> (up to 2 years) to count visits and see which pages help; until then, or if you press Reject, nothing is sent to Google Analytics. We send Google only that an enquiry was made and from which form, never your name, email, phone number or message. Google Ireland Ltd acts as our processor. Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage as site-consent for 6 months; change it with Cookie settings at the foot of every page, and rejecting deletes those cookies. The sign-in session cookie is strictly necessary and needs no consent.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
